March 21st. A cloudy cold start to the day with sun coming through later on and a southerly breeze becoming easterly later on.
Highlights of the day was the first Swallow of the year seen briefly at the Visitor Centre at 9am. Also there were 2 White-fronted Geese on Tennyson's Sands. A Raven went low north over Croft Marsh. A Cetti's Warbler was singing around Mill Hill again. Going South were 2 Red Kite, 2 Buzzards, 2 Red-throated Divers, a Snipe and 20 Chaffinch, 17 Siskin. A Merlin was hunting on the beach where there were 17 Turnstone also.
On the water bodies around the reserve were 44 Shelduck, 120 Shoveler, 14 Gadwall, 300 Wigeon, 30 Teal, 42 Tufted Duck,14 Little Grebe, 23 Avocet, 37 Curlew, 21 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Grey Heron and 1 Cetti's Warbler (Tennyson's Sands).
Also about were 7 Chiffchaff, 3 Redwing, 400 Starlings and a further 4 Buzzards.
