March 1st. Decreasing south-westerly wind with brief hail showers in the afternoon.
A coordinated effort by 5 local observers produced an incredible count of
97 Water Pipit in to roost in the early evening. On Jackson's Marsh were 274 Wigeon, 10 Pintail, 4 Black-tailed Godwit and 15 Snipe; on Croftmarsh a further Pintail; and on Tennyson's Sands 2 Avocet and a Water Rail.
